We are a non-profit making, non-political Registered Charity (No. 518714), providing volunteers, information, advice and assistance to everyone in our local communities. Our catchment area includes the six northern parishes of North West Leicestershire, with a population of approximately 13,000 people living in the villages of Castle Donington, Kegworth, Long Whatton, Diseworth, Lockington, Hemington, Breedon-on-the-Hill, Tonge, Wilson and Isley Walton.
The Centre is one of 17 in Leicestershire, employs a staff of three, has 140 volunteers on the register and is managed by a Board of Trustees.
We are a member of Volunteering England and enjoy a close association with Volunteer Links Coalville, Ashby/Moira and Measham, and North West Leicestershire Council for Voluntary Service based in Coalville. We are an Equal Opportunities organisation and work in line with an Equal Opportunities code of practice.
HOW THE CENTRE IS MANAGED
The Centre is staffed by three part-time workers, Michael Shaw and Julie Logan Co-managers and Jackie Bell Assistant to the Managers.
We report to a Management Committee that meets regularly to oversee the running of the Centre. This committee is comprised of local people with a wide range of representation including volunteers and people with particular skills or experience. We are always keen to hear from anyone who would like to become a member of this committee, if you are interested, just give us a call.
HOW THE CENTRE IS FINANCED
Our main funding is from Leicestershire County Council, Social Services Department. Funding is received from Charnwood and North West Leicestershire Primary Care Group and Kegworth Parish Council to provide Hospital Transport Schemes for Castle Donington and Kegworth. The Centre has a Service Level Agreement with all these agencies.
The Centre also receives grants/donations to help with the running costs from North West Leicestershire District Council, Castle Donington Parish Council, Castle Donington Community Bus Scheme and Coalville Citizens Advice Bureau. We also receive donations from local businesses and individuals for which we are extremely grateful. Additional funds are generated by organised fundraising.
